Brent Spillane

Brent Spillane is both elected Chairman of the New Zealand Gift Trade Association and Managing Director of XPO Exhibitions, who are also the organisers of the New Zealand Gift & Homeware Fairs.
 
In his role as Chairman of the NZGTA, Brent follows the footsteps of his father Bill, who successfully held that role for 25 years. Brent began his career working in his family’s long established giftware importing business, where he gained first-hand experience of exhibiting at the NZ Gift Fairs.
 
Having achieved a Master’s Degree in Insurance & Risk Management from Deakin University in Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Asian Business & International Trade from the University of Auckland, Brent also worked in Australia in general insurance and finance sectors for 12 years, resulting in his appointment to the role General Manager for Allianz Finance.
 
XPO Exhibition’s purchased of the NZ Gift Fairs from a subsidiary of the Daily Mail Group UK in 2009, Brent moved back to New Zealand with his family the same year, taking up the role as Managing Director of XPO Exhibitions.
 
In 2013 Brent’s leadership in trade show organisation was rewarded with XPO receiving the coveted awards for:
 
  • Best Trade Show in Australasia
  • Best overall show in New Zealand
  • 2013 Exhibitions & Events Awards Australasia Awards.
Brent continues to work, identifying and implementing world first initiatives for the Gift Fairs. To date, these include online marketing and visitor engagement strategies.  Brent is focused on further cementing his passion and commitment towards growth and development of the gift and homewares industry for all concerned.
