Autumn Gift 2014 Visitor Prize Winner - Snazzi Gifts, Amanda Sole


 

When Amanda answered the phone, at first she couldn’t quite believe the great news. What an amazing surprise to find she was finally a winner! A trip for two to Rarotonga, staying 5 nights at the Crown Beach Resort and Spa in a 1 Bedroom Garden Villa and a lagoon cruise.   Snazzi Gifts has been owned by Amanda and Stephen Sole for 12 years, with the shop located in Dargaville for 5 years this August. They take pleasure in providing local and national customers with a vast range of both unique and mystical gifts for all sorts of occasions and celebrations.   Amanda and Stephen have been through a hard three years in retail, and a couple of hard years with drought on the farm, but Amanda feels that they have gotten to the end of it and finally things are looking great.  They not only have the day to day running of the shop but they also sharemilk 500 cows, so juggling the shop and the cows can be quite a challenge! Amanda has been attending the Gift Fairs for 11 years and she believes that if you’re in the gift trade you must go, especially to see what’s new to the market, new trends and who the new suppliers are.  Sunday was the ideal time to attend the show, with the shop closed and no need to pay staff, Amanda and Vikki, her daughter, headed to the Gift Fair.
 
On arrival, they collected their free bag and asked Vikki to ensure they had a Travel Prize entry card to complete, only to receive the protest “Mum, you have been coming for 11 years and never won anything, it’s a waste of time filling it out.” This didn’t deter Amanda, she persevered and responded “I’m going to win this trip, go get it please”, so kept her positive attitude, convinced that she was going to win one day.

The trip to Rarotonga will be Amanda and Stephen’s first holiday in seven years.  With Stephen's 50th at the end of May and the cow’s being dry (not milking), they will take advantage for a well-deserved and somewhat overdue week long holiday in the sun.
